Employment Opportunities in the USA During Study (On F1 Visa)
Maximum duration of OPT for all undergraduate and graduate STEM programs is 36 months Maximum duration of OPT for all other (non- STEM) undergraduate and graduate programs is 12 Months.
- Students can work part time on campus for 20 hours per week during studies.
- Curriculum Practical Training (CPT): Few universities in the USA offer CPT (internship) as a part of course. Maximum duration for CPT is 9 months.
- Optional Practical Training (OPT): After course completion, the students have right to work full time i.e., 40 hours per week anywhere in USA.
- Experience gained during OPT period prepares students for exploring further work opportunities anywhere in the world including USA after they complete their stay as a student (on F1 visa).
