What is digital Nomad visa?
In the past, distant workers on the road frequently required guest visas. This was not legally legal, though, as the majority of tourist visas do not allow the holder to work. The remote worker was unable to apply for a regular work visa because their clients or employees were situated abroad. Remote workers may occasionally simply keep renewing their tourist visas. However, it wasn't always the best option. Governments started adopting stricter policies regarding "visa runs." Anyway, the Schengen zone rules made visa runs impossible in Europe.
In order to bridge the gap between a long-term employment permit and a short-term tourist visa, digital nomad visas were developed. They enable remote workers to stay longer than permitted by a standard tourist visa, while performing remote work for a foreign client or company. Non-EU nationals may enter Europe on a standard tourist visa for up to 90 days out of every 180 days. When those 90 days are up, individuals must wait another 90 days before making another journey inside the Schengen region. Digital nomad visa holders are permitted to stay beyond the statutory 90-day period. Typically, applicants are required to present proof of their financial ability, economic activity, and absence of any felony convictions. The primary disadvantage of digital nomad visas is that they are frequently non-renewable. Most of them don't offer a path to citizenship or long-term residence. There are a few exceptions to that generalization, though.
